In the three resources examined for these comments, this soldier appears under the name of "Joseph Felty".
Joseph Feltey was mustered in at Trenton, New Jersey on August 28, 1861 as a member of Company C, 7th New Jersey Infantry. He was discharged by reason of a disability on December 15, 1862. The "Certificate of Disability for Discharge" in Feltey's Complied Military Service Record would give the disability as Dropsy.
Joseph Feltey re-entered the service, being mustered in on August 29, 1863 as a member of Company G, 33rd New Jersey Infantry. He would die in the service of his country in May,27 1864 at Dallas, Georgia although the records examined differ over precisely when and how. In page 985 of Stryker's work, Joseph Feltey is recorded to have died on May 27, 1864 of wounds received in action on May 25, 1864. The copy card of the muster roll for May and June, 1864 in Feltey's Complied Military Service Record records him as killed in action on May 30, 1864. Joseph Feltey would leave behind a widow and five children according to a September 14, 1866 declaration in his Pension File.
