UNION CIVIL WAR SOLDIER.ENLISTED 8-13-1862 AS 1ST LIEUT. INTO CO.F-37TH MASS.INFANTRY.HE WAS MUSTERED OUT ON JUNE.21-1865 WITH THE RANK OF CAPT.HE WAS WOUNDED AT WINCHESTER AND AT PETERSBURG. HE RECEIVED PROMOTIONS OF MAJOR BY BREVETT ON 9-19-1864 AND HAD IT REVOKED ON 3-4-1865 AND PROMOTED TO LT.COLONEL AND COLONEL BUT DID NOT MUSTER.
