A UNION CIVIL WAR SOLDIER.A MAJOR IN THE 6TH UNITED STATES
INFANTRY.HE WAS CAPTURED IN MAY OF 1861 AND RELEASED THE FOLLOWING YEAR 1862.PROMOTED TO LT.COLONEL OF THE 16TH UNITED STATES REGULAR INFANTRY AND
LATER TO FULL COLONEL.AFTER THE CIVIL WAR BREVETTED BRIGADIER GENERAL FOR VALIANT SERVICE. PRIOR TO THE CIVIL WAR FOUGHT IN THE MEXICAN WAR.
