A UNION CIVIL WAR NAVAL COMMANDER WHO PRIOR TO THE CIVIL WAR SERVED ABOARD THE STEAMER "PRINCETON" DURING THE MEXICAN WAR AND THE SEIGE OF VERA CRUZ. UNDER ADMIRAL FARRAGUT HE COMMANDED THE GUN SHIP "VARUNA" DURING THE BATTLE OF NEW ORLEANS. AFTER THE CIVIL WAR SERVED AS COMMODORE OF LIGHTHOUSE INSPECTION AND WAS PROMOTED REAR ADMIRAL IN 1870 BEFORE RETIRING IN 1873. BORN AND DIED IN NEW BRUNSWICK,N.J. B-JAN.28-1811 DIED-APRIL 22-1888. FATHER ON UNION LIEUT. ROBERT M.BOGGS.
