IN MARCH OF 1857.DURING THE CIVIL WAR SERVED AS AIDE-DE-CAMP TO MAJOR GENERAL JOHN E.WOOL WITH RANK OF LT.COLONEL. HE WAS BREVETTED BRIG.GENRAL OF U.S.VOLUNTEERS IN MARCH 1865 AND IN MARCH 1867 BREVETTED BRIG.GENERAL OF THE U.S.ARMY.
