Union soldier in Co. C - 54th New York
Infantry as Corporal and Sgt..
In Co. H - 54th New York Infantry served as
1st Sgt. and 2nd Lieut. before he deserted
on Sept. 9, 1864. His desertion is said to have been because of mental breakdown.
