He enlisted at 16 into Co.C - NJ 6th Vol. with the first call for soldiers in Aug. 1861.Transferred Aug. 12,1864 into Co. F - 8 N.J.Infantry. He fought at Bull Run, Gettysburg and all the major battles to Appomattox with Gen. Hookers Division.
Enlisted as Private, received promotions of Corporal and Sergt..Reduced to ranks before discharge.
After the Grand Review in DC he returned to Jersey City. His obituary says that he was a fireman before the war. Michael died at the age 36 of colera when my grandmother was 7 years old.
