Private George M. Chester enlisted in the 24th New Jersey Volunteer Infantry, Co. G., on 9/2/1862 and was mustered out on 6/29/1863. He was awarded pension (app 28,421; cert 149,527) on 7/11/1863. He was a member of the Jacob C. Shinn Post #2 G.A.R.
