WELCOME
The mission of this project is to capture digital images of gravestones of our ancestors who served in the Civil War and are buried throughout New Jersey.Photos submitted should also list the unit and rank in which they served. These photos may be of either Confederate or Union soldiers. As decades pass -- many stones are becoming harder, if not impossible, to read the inscriptions they originally contained.
THE COPYING OF ANY PHOTOS AND DATA INFORMATION WITHOUT EXPRESS CONSENT OF THE NEW JERSEY CIVIL WAR GRAVESTONES ADMINISTRATORS SHALL BE CONSTRUED AS THEFT AND COPY-RIGHT INFRINGEMENT.SEE TERMS OF USE FOR FURTHER INFORMATION.
By archiving the images, we can help save these important records and also assist researchers using this valuable resource. It should be noted that all photos submitted must be originals taken by the submitter and not taken from other web sites or from publications,etc..Photos also should be no older then six months from time of being taken as grave stones deteriorate and may no longer be a valid representation of the actual grave.Photos may appear the same as those taken by others but in reality are not.It is very common for two individuals to research the same cemetery and take photos.Inscription as to time is embedded in digital photos,so exact time is noted and similarities can and do exist among photos in style and or local.
All submissions shall and will be researched for accuracy, pertaining military unit served,etc...this is needed to assure bonafied information. We reserve the right to edit all submissions as deemed necessary.Such verification is standard and normal as mis-information discredits our web site.We reserve the right to reject any submissions that do not pass verification.
